Sponsoring a school can make a huge difference to the lives and school-experience of the students. With your support schools can offer support to the poorest students - this has been shown to improve grades and therefore life chances. All of the students can benefit from free milk and food provided by the schools during the schoolday. Please read on to see how you can get involved.
Education in Nepal, even in state schools, is not free. Sponsoring a school can help children to thrive. Sponsored schools receive support enabling them to provide a cooked meal each day (for some children the only one of the day), hardship funds for students, and basic playing and learning equipment.
We have been building and supporting schools in the Pokhara area for over 12 years. The latest school to receive our support is ‘The Blind School, Pokhara’. We have supported this school with a donation of a CD player and CDs containing Radio Guru lessons. The school also received a 20 litre capacity gas-powered rice-cooker for the cooking of boarding students' meals, mosquito nets for the dormitories, and blankets for the students in winter.
These donations and hundreds of others were only made possible by the generosity and support of individual donors. The Mountain Trust makes a big difference for the students studying at these schools. With your support we can continue to change lives for the better and provide much needed basics in education.
Almost every week teachers and pupils in the Pokhara region come to The Mountain Trust office to ask for support and advice. Their stories are often compelling. After an approach for support from a school The Mountain Trust will investigate the schools needs and recommend any free remedial action that can be of benefit to the school. Once we understand the school's needs fully we will assign resources for its support. We try to find long term supporters and donors for these projects and encourage donors to visit the schools they support.
