A Diary Delivery
Our supporters not only donate their time and money, but also vital items such as stationery and clothes.
On the 27th June, we had a ‘personal’ delivery of old corporate diaries, notebooks, pencils and pens arranged by one of our supporters. Kean Ng had come to hear about our important work from one of our previous volunteers and was enthusiastic to help us in any way he could.
On a trip to Nepal, he brought over a 100 items which he had collected from his friends and family. He’d only bought 2 packs of pencils – everything had been donated, including 17 toothbrushes
We distributed the items to students at Bal Mandir School where our donor Miette Lauwers sponsors over 50 students. It is a government school and is one of the biggest schools in Pokhara, going from Class 1 all the way to Class 12. The teaching is of a high quality, and last year, 14% of the students sitting the School Leaver’s Certificate got over 90% on their test while across the country there is a pass rate of under 50%. Those students that we sponsor need that money to ensure that they can continue their studies. Kean’s gift will help encourage them to keep up their hard work.
On behalf of the whole MT team, we would like to thank Kean, and all his friends and family, for this very kind gift for our disadvantaged students. We hope to welcome you back to Nepal soon.
